I Am Legend
Eric and I went to see this movie tonight. In Taiwan, it is labeled suitable for ages 6 and up. (I should have looked up the info on this movie). 6 AND UP?!?!? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!? It should be labeled 18 and over. It was one of the scariest things I've seen in a very, very long time. I sat with my coat over my face for most of the movie.
I was talking with a friend today about movies in Taiwan. This society just has no idea how the type of movies and television shows they let their children see will affect them in the future. I was appalled when my 5 year old students told me their parents took them to see "The Golden Compass." Never mind the background and motives of the author, that movie is filled with violence!! (I know that just from watching the previews...) Come on, parents! That goes for all parents, not just those in Taiwan. American parents are just as bad.
I think I'm going to start screaming if I see another little kid walk into a movie that is filled with violence, sex, drugs, and monsters.
No wonder why some of our 5 year olds are fearing death and the death of their parents. Since most children have no concept of death at that age, I wonder where they are getting it from...I'd guess it's from the movies and television they're allowing their children to watch...
But that's just my opinion.
