Infiltrating the Enemy's Camp

As many of you know, I have a deep love for mormons. It stems from when mormons "witnessed" to me as a toubled teen and grew later as I began to witness to them.

I've seen so many mormon missionaries here and have tried to strike up conversations with them. Often, they look lost (in more ways than one), so I pull over and ask if they need help. And so far, my attempts have failed. They reply, "No." And then ignore me.

I mentioned this to a friend of mine (an ex-mormon) and he gave me a FABULOUS idea...

Why not go to the mormon church, walk in, look bewildered and start asking questions...use that as a platform to witness to some mormons!

Although, he suggested that I not go alone (which I agree with). Now, I need someone to go with me...any takers?

I think I'm going to try this after I return from China...but Mr. Brian, I need a bit of coaching! :)

I happened upon your blog, and as I was reading, I kept wondering, what religion you were because you obviously have a deep faith in Christ, which is so refreshing these days. Would you mind telling me more about your experience with the Mormon missionaries?

Sure, I was first introduced to mormonism as a teenager. As I spend time with some elders, I believed that they were Christians just like me (and actually, I was Catholic). As time grew on, I became a real Christian, born-again through repentence and faith in Jesus Christ alone. I began to learn more about mormonism because I lived near Palmyra, NY and I studied the historical background as a New York State historian.

I met some people who were ex-temple mormons and learned how mormons are not Christians and why. I they are quite deceived and frankly speaking, brainwashed into believing that membership in the LDS church is the only way to heaven. The Bible is very clear that Jesus Christ, alone, is the only way to heaven.

Anyway, I was living in Indiana when some mormons came knocking on my door. I invited them in my house. I told them to come back in 3 days. One of the missionaries came with some big shot from the local LDS church. I remember I asked them if we could start out with some worship. They said, "Worship what?" I replied, "Um, the Lord." And the big shot asked, "How?" I said with song...I have a song and here's the lyrics. It was about God's glory and honor being in that place. In the middle of the song, they asked if we could stop. I knew that was coming, so I said, okay. The big shot said that the missionaries had told me a plan of salvation and wanted me to repeat it. I politely said, I would love to repeat it, but that's not what God wants to say here tonight! The big shot said, "God speaks to you?" I said, sure! Doesn't he speak to you?!? Then, Holy Spirit took charge of the conversation. I would quote something from the Bible and then open right to that scripture. I was amazed at the time because I was thinking, I don't ever remember reading this! (I had been a Christian for about a year). I invited my atheist neighbor over to check on me. When he walked in, he was taken back. Later he told me that he had those guys over before, and they always argue with him. He said the guys in my living room were SCARED!!!!

As a history major with a concentration in pre and colonial American history, I was also able to refute the intro to the bom. I told them there was no historical evidence and that it's a lie. The missionaries soon after ended their "meeting" with me.

What is comes down to is I hate deception, lies and the devil most of all. Knowing that there is nothing a mormon can do to go to heaven by himself (good works and a good life won't get him there). It's only by the blood of Jesus that we are made righteous in the eyes of God.

If we die in sin (Romans says that if we are liars, we will have our part in the lake of fire...have you ever told a lie...even one...I have, that makes me a liar), we go to hell. If we repent of our sin and put our trust in Christ, we can have eternal life. And that's where mormonism and Christianity differ greatly!!

But if you want to know more about mormonism, my friend, who is an ex-mormon has a website.

oh, and the enemy's camp refers to the devil's dominon...not actual people...just in case some clarification was needed.

Good points Stella,
As a former Mormon myself, I can tell you that their teachings are completely false (when compared to the Bible). When we use anything else as our standard, besides the Bible, then we open the door to deception. Satan gets a foothold on us and doesn't want to let go. Brainwashing techniques, false prophecies, satanic rituals, and a complete changing of who Jesus is, would describe the Mormon church. I appreciate you stance on the bible. It is very refreshing!

Hi Diane, it is good that you appreciate a woman who is so deep in her faith in Christ. I think it is important for all of us to have that someone we can connect with who will help encourage us and help us to grow as Christians. What faith are you? Have you had any Mormons come to your door?
