Xi'An: BeiYuanMen Islamic Street

I found the Muslim area of the city!! Alright! I was hoping for some good middle eastern style food...I was wrong! Xi'An has a huge Muslim population. It was very strange to see hundreds of Chinese Muslims. When you see "Muslim food" in China, it just means there's no pork products...oh well. (And can someone translate that billboard for me? The one of the Chinese girl and Mecca in the background. I think it says something about making a piligrimage?)
The gold colored animals you see below are made from taffy. It was really cool to watch the guy make them. However, I didn't buy one, nor would I eat one. They are made by him placing the taffy into his mouth then blowing into it. Then the animals are shaped by hand. The whole hand thing doesn't bother me since a trillion people touch your food before you actually get it, but the mouth thing is just sick! (Oh, but they're sooo beautiful, though)!
