Beijing! Touchdown!!

THERE IS NO SNOW IN BEIJING!!!!!!! I AM SOOOOOO DISAPPOINTED!!!!! It's clear and cold (but a really nice cold)! It's winter. No bad weather. It's beautiful!

So, there's tons of construction going on. Beijing is getting ready for the Olympics. However, it still reminds me of Russia.

I can't wait to post some pictures of the hotel I'm staying at. It's gorgeous!!!! They put me in a really large room...actually, it's an apartment. It has a living room (with free internet and a computer), a bedroom and a kitchen!! It's sweet! The one thing that surprised me was there's HEAT here!! In Taiwan, houses don't have heat. They're ice cold!

I need a nap; I've been up since 4 AM. I met my tour guide/new best friend in China, Leo. He's probably a year or two old than me (I didn't ask), but he's really nice. He picked me up at the airport and was shocked when he learned that I wasn't Taiwanese. He kept looking for a Taiwanese girl!! :)

I also have a private driver, Mr. Wang. He doesn't speak English, though. I got to practice a little Chinese with him. Oh, that's another thing. I can actually understand spoken Chinese here!! People speak very clearly and with such distinction, unlike in southern Taiwan...
