In Desperate Need of Help/Walk for Life 2008

I've been involved with (the English Converstion outreach portion) a ministry in Tainan City. The ministry is called Ray of Hope and they minister to unwed pregnant woman. They help the moms through the adoption process as opposed to abortion. In Taiwan, a country with 22 million people, there are nearly 500,000 abortions a year.
Coupled with that is the ever increasing problem of sexual abuse. Every 27 minutes in Taiwan, a child is sexually abused. Girls in 5th and 6th grades are getting pregnant. Do you think the families are keeping the babies? No, they're aborting the babies.

Taiwan is faced with these issues, but yet, won't talk about them in order to save "face." The mayor of Tainan City said that the two biggest problems the city faces are robbery and sexual abuse. He, himself, admitted that he doesn't know what to do about them. Ray of Hope is holding a walk to create awareness for sexual abuse and to pressure the government to incorportate prevention classes in the public schools, in which children would learn how to protect themselves from sexual abuse, rather than just learning how to use a condom (as that is what is taught in public schools).

Ray of Hope needs your help. If you are in Taiwan, please come walk with us on February 16, 2008. Information can be found at the blog Ray of Hope/Walk for Life 2008 . If you're in the States or Canada, please consider making a donation. The organization does NOT get government funding because it's a Christian organization. Funding is so limited and they are still in need of approximately $2,500 USD.

Please watch this video and visit their blog. If you'd like to make a tax deductable donation, they can be sent to the following address:
